Sustainability

My love of nature is at the heart of The Gathering Bee. Through my photographic art, I hope to inspire a closer connection with the natural world and create pieces you’ll enjoy for years to come.

That same appreciation guides my choices about paper, printing and packaging. Sustainability is an ongoing commitment, and I believe in sharing specific information about those choices.

Thoughtfully chosen paper

My prints are made on Hahnemühle German Etching, a textured fine art paper made from 100% alpha-cellulose. It is acid- and lignin-free, chosen for its quality, character and resistance to ageing.

Hahnemühle states that the cellulose used in its papers comes from sustainably managed forests, using FSC- or PEFC-certified fibres. Read about Hahnemuhles environmental approach.

Printing to order

Each print is produced to order by my specialist print partner, theprintspace. This means prints are made when they’re wanted, rather than produced in bulk and held as unsold stock.

Theprintspace describes its printing and delivery service as carbon neutral. Its approach includes renewable energy, measures to reduce transport emissions and carbon offsetting. Carbon neutral does not mean that printing and delivery produce no emissions. Read about the Printspace's environmental approach.

Considered packaging

Protecting your artwork on its journey matters. Theprintspace states that its packaging materials are sustainably sourced, recyclable or biodegradable. Prints are protected with recyclable tissue paper and sent in sustainably sourced, recyclable cardboard envelopes or tubes.

Please check your local recycling guidance when disposing of packaging.

Art to enjoy for years

I encourage thoughtful purchases: choosing artwork you genuinely love and caring for it so it can remain part of your home for years.

I’ll continue reviewing the materials and services I use, and updating this information as supplier practices develop.
