The Story Behind My New Coastal Collection

sarah williamson

There’s something quietly special about seeing work leave the studio and find its place somewhere new.

TIDES OF CALM - LIMITED EDITION PRINT

This week, a small collection of my coastal limited edition print art pieces has made its way to the Isle of Mull — a place where the sea, light and landscape continue to inspire so much of what I create. It feels like a natural journey for these works, returning to a setting shaped by the same elements that first brought them into being.

DREAM BENEATH THE CLOUDS - LIMITED EDITION PRINT

Much of my photography begins with time spent along the shoreline. Watching the light shift across the water. Listening to the rhythm of the tide. Returning to familiar places again and again, gathering moments that slowly settle into something more lasting.

These pieces carry those moments within them — the colour of changing skies, the movement of the sea, and the quiet stillness that can be found in coastal landscapes.

LUMINOUS SHORES - LIMITED EDITION PRINT

Each image is created using intentional camera movement, allowing the scene to soften and blend into something more expressive. Rather than documenting the coastline exactly as it appears, I’m drawn to capturing the atmosphere of a place — the feeling of being there.

FADING INTO BLUE - LIMITED EDITION PRINT

Seeing this collection come together for exhibition has been a reflective experience. These works were created across different seasons and locations, yet they share a common thread: a deep connection to the coast and the sense of calm it brings.

There is something quietly fitting about them now settling into a gallery space on the Isle of Mull — surrounded by the same natural elements that continue to shape my work.

GOLDEN QUIET - LIMITED EDITION PRINT

This is my first gallery collection, and it feels like an important milestone in my journey as an artist. I feel incredibly proud to see these pieces come together in this way, and deeply grateful for the opportunity to share them in a place so connected to the sea.

This collection is now available to view at Calgary Gallery on the Isle of Mull, set within the coastal landscape that continues to inspire my work.

They are currently not available for sale on my website, but if you are interested in purchasing one, please contact me on sarahw@thegatheringbee.com or via my contact page.
